Lead the estimating team on a number of complex sizeable contracts
Work on several projects at a time, managing own time and the team time effectively to meet regular tight deadlines, juggle workload and priorities accordingly
Carry out a site visit to gain a better understanding of the conditions that may have an effect on the pricing, programming and methods of construction. Site photographs must be taken as an aide memoir and to assist the bid team in understanding the site constraints during the Tender phase
Encourage and develop the competent use of data spreadsheets and databases in order to maximise the efficient sourcing and collection of data to enable the production of accurate cost estimates to time.
Measurement and preparation of accurate quantities to ensure maximum competitive edge with a view to supporting maximum tender success
Supporting the team with build up estimates from first principles to ensure all labour, material and time requirements have been accounted for by studying proposals, specifications and related documents
Working with clients to understand requirements including managing their expectations from estimating through to contract handover
Provide a completed tender for Managing Director review

Day to Day
Identify whether potential tenders meet the criteria including but not limited to resources, preferred work type, size, and risk/opportunity.
Prepare tender enquiries by trade and materials identifying and referencing required documents to be issued with the enquiry, you will identify companies to be sent enquiries in sufficient numbers to ensure at minimum two returns are received for each trade/material to allow comparison for completeness.

Build up estimates from first principles to ensure that tenders are investigated and treated as individual and produce unique rates for each and every tender.
Ensure that all tenders that are submitted are built up on an approved template to ensure that information obtained from the estimate is in a format that can be used by other functions in the company such as procurement, operations, commercial and finance.
